Full Length Film!
Added on 03/02/2012 17:24:40
Here is the full length version of our Bridging the Generation Gap film. Sadly, Bob died just after the project finished and dear Max has been admitted to hospital. It's nigh on impossible not to form friendships with such lovely people and therefore this film makes us feel emotional every time we watch it! Our huge thanks go to LUX Technical for their enormous patience and invaluable advice! We loved this project and look...Click here to view full post

The ugly face of Facebook
Added on 15/06/2011 12:58:05
I'm so glad I have a place to come and share my stories with people that understand what respect means. I am studying with the Open University and I am a member of a few Facebook study groups. These groups are set up by individuals to provide support to other students. Unfortunately some of theses groups are far from supportive. On Sunday a fellow student who lives in Greece was subjected to terrible abuse on one of these groups for...Click here to view full post
Volunteering

Over the past year I have been fortunate to work with Sharon at Bigpinkheart. I have always been involved with charity work - but this last year has been very different for me. Bigpinkheart is not about preaching or pointing the finger at people - it's all about learning from other peoples experiences and I can honestly say that I learn something new after each prison workshop. I have been inspired by Sharon - she is a remarkable...Click here to view full post
A Second Chance!
Added on 09/03/2011 10:33:51
Late yesterday afternoon I had a visit from a young ex-offender who was on one of those excursions to sell over priced cleaning and houseware goods. However, this young guy looked so embarrassed and was overly apologetic for disturbing my day and troubling me to buy some of his expensive goods. I decided that it was important to give him a moment or two of my time and to talk to him and then, if I felt like it, I would buy something...Click here to view full post
Can You Live Without People?
Added on 08/03/2011 09:01:57
Can you live without people? This is an interesting question, can you? How would you manage? It is like saying can I live without technology, could I live without an arm or can I live without money? Some people who choose to live a hermit style lifestyle would say you can, but they make up a small amount of our population. So how about the rest of us? Who would you buy your groceries from, who would you chat to on social networking...Click here to view full post
What is Citizenship?
Added on 18/02/2011 13:03:08
It would seem that this is in fact the new buzz work for what we all once new as General Studies, in the good old day of the Community College, where without thinking about it we communicated in harmony with our neighbours young and old! So why do we have to give it a fancy title and why are we having to teach our youngsters something which I am sure they know! The funny thing is that when I was first told of Citizen Teachers my...Click here to view full post
I wish I had known this when I was young!!
Added on 14/02/2011 11:50:09
I have learnt a lot lately and realised some valuable lessons. When I was younger I thought I knew everything – but truth be told I wish I knew then what I do now! Society astounds me today; I see two different types of communities, one in the same vein I was brought up in, and another where people have a complete different set of ideals and most importantly morals! Are people failing to see the need to be a unit with their local...Click here to view full post
From the Heart
Added on 25/01/2011 08:58:03
I have recently been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. To me this was something that happened to other people not me; I am only 28 – well nearer 29. But it has, and I have had to work out why and also how to deal with it. I am not only writing this to help myself but to also show how I have been helped, and I suppose to thank those people who have helped me, they know who they are. I couldn’t even tell people what was wrong...Click here to view full post
